Breitling is one of the most recognisable names in the world of watches. Even those who don't know much about watches know who Breitling is and what it represents, with the Navitimer perhaps being one of the most iconic watches next to the Rolex Submariner, the Omega Speedmaster, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
Since Georges Kern took over in 2017, Breitling has been creating and recreating these fantastic collections of watches that are cool, fresh and engaging. From the new vintage-inspired looks of the Navitimer that pays homage to the brand's iconic aviation tool from yesteryear to the refreshed look of the Chronomat and the bold look of the new Superocean Heritage, these new pieces from Breitling are captivating and proving themselves to be at the forefront of many a convert (myself included).
Painstakingly so, given the plethora of awesomeness from Breitling's new releases, I've picked out my 7 favourite new watches from Breitling. My absolute favourite is the Aviator 8, with the Navitimer 1959 Re-Edition being a very close second. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on these new pieces, so shoot me an email and let me know. Oh, and these are all available for purchase via out partners at Goldsmiths UK, too. Enjoy!
Breitling Aviator 8
The Breitling Aviator 8 is utterly faultless. It's captivating, it's cool, it's unlike anything Breitling has done in the past decade and it is, undoubtedly, Breitling's most appealing modern watch. I love every component of the Aviator 8, every nook and cranny, every edge and curve. Everything works together flawlessly.
Breitling Navitimer 1959 Re-Edition
While the Aviator 8 is the main event, the Navitimer 1959 Re-Edition is like that really interesting, thoroughly enjoyable prelude that you actually mistook for being the main event. It's that good. Inspired by the look of the original Navitimer from 1959, the Re-Edition is completely awesome.
Breitling Navitimer 1959 Re-Edition Rose Gold
As above but in rose gold. Seriously, I'm not being lazy, but does much else need to be said? F**king love it!.
Breitling Chronomat B01 Frecce Tricolori
The Chronomat B01 Frecce Tricolori pays tribute to the 1983 chronograph developed for the famous Italian aerial squadron, and it is my favourite version of the new Chronomat series. I love the use of the Italian flag colours to offset the deep blue dial. The ornate crown is divine, and the bullet-style steel bracelet just tops things off beautifully.
Breitling Chronomat
The panda-stylised dial is a fitting effort from Breitling to recreate a legend but still make it relevant to contemporary design demands. Seriously, seriously cool.
Breitling Chronomat Rose Gold
Much the same sans the bullet-style bracelet (this one instead has a rubber strap), what we have here is a beautiful combination of rose gold, a touch of red and a whole lot of want from over here *waves*.
Breitling Superocean Heritage
The new Superocean Heritage pieces are big, bold and draw inspiration from the original 1957 Superocean piece. There are plenty of styles and colour ways Breitling has made available with this new collection (including a vivid colourful version), but this particular model wins it for me.
