Patek Philippe 3491 GONDOLO

$23,000AUD (GST Included)

An obscure and often forgotten reference, the 3491 is a lovely little piece whose charm has only grown stronger over the years. Released circa the 1960s, the 3491 is an example of Patek pushing the boundaries of its own design language. The square white gold case features angular sloped edges with drop off to give way to the middle case and a snap-on caseback. The brushed linearity on the sloped edges contrast well with the flat polished bezel, which serve as the perfect frame for the beautiful textured dial. This textural pattern extends to the white gold bracelet, which in itself is uncut and a work of art. Rounding off what is a visceral display of end to end beauty are those lovely little baton hands, simple hour markers and two lines of text at the top of the dial. The clasp, along with the crown, features Patek Philippe’s iconic insignia.

Above all else, the Patek Philippe 3491 Gondolo is as much a forgotten gem as it is something as timeless yet thoroughly relevant still almost 60 years since its introduction to the world.

Condition:

This particular Patek Philippe 3491 Gondolo example, of which there are very few surfacing, presents in fantastic condition. From its uncut bracelet to its case, there are only the most minor of blemishes and hairline scratches from wear. There are some very minor chops noted on the angular elements of the case, particularly where the sloped edges meet the vertical sides of the case. Otherwise, this 3491 model looks insanely well preserved and very much ready to be worn. You will need to take the piece to your local jeweller who can then cut to size the white gold bracelet.
