A. Lange & Söhne Drops 3 New Limited Editions

A. Lange & Söhne has just announced three new watches clad in honey gold, the German atelier's unique gold alloy. The new collection of watches were made to celebrate the establishment of the company that would later become known as A. Lange & Söhne by Ferdinand Adolph Lange 175 years ago.

December 7th 1845 would later become a date that reverberates throughout Glashütte and the world. It's the day that Ferdinand Adolph Lange opened his pocket watch atelier. Fast forward to 2020 and A. Lange & Söhne is an absolute powerhouse of modern horology, combining engineering and artistry to create some of the world's most beautiful timepieces. And A. Lange & Söhne has just flexed its horological might by dropping three bona fide winners.

A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Thin Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange"

The 1815 Thin Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange" is a simple yet brilliant timepiece that marries the nostalgia of an old-world watch with beautiful architecture and clean lines. The two-part white enamel dial contrasts really well with the warmth of the honeygold case. The use of the dark-grey Arabic numerals and the railway track minute scale continues the overall theme of the 1815 Thin Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange".

The 1815 Thin Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange" is powered by the L093.1. This is a wonderfully simple yet thoroughly well finished movement that features a German-silver three-quarter plate with a granular-finished textured surface, similar to those found in Lange's old pocket watches.

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Thin Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange" is priced at €33,000.

A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange"

The second piece Lange released is the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange". It features a honeygold case with a black dial in solid silver offset by rhodiumed, honeygold, white gold and pink gold hands and hour numerals.

The movement is a work of art, as is every movement from the German watchmaker. The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange" is powered by the L101.2 calibre that features all the bells and whistles of a Lange-made movement. I love how the movement fills the entire caseback of the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange".

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange" is priced at €130,000.

A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange"

Last but certainly not least is the Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange". The Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange" is the most complicated piece of the anniversary collection. It features a tourbillon with a fusée-and-chain transmission with a tourbillon, as well as a rattrapante and a perpetual calendar. Also made from honey gold, the A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange" features a black-rhodiumed dial with contrasting hour numerals and hands

The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange" is powered by the L133.1. Superlatives aside, the L133.1 is one of the most complicated movements produced by Lange and in itself is a work of art. Deep, complex, architecturally brilliant and engineered to perfection, the L133.1 is befitting of a watch like the A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange" The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual "Homage to F. A. Lange" is priced at €500,000.
