Amazon Finds: 8 Chronographs Under $5,000

The chronograph is one of those all time great watch complications. And while its fundamental use is perhaps rarely called upon, the chronograph remains still revered and loved through the watch community. As part of our 'Amazon Finds' series, we've put together a list of some of the best examples of a chronograph that we could find for under $5,000. Enjoy!

Tudor Heritage Black Bay Chronograph

A stunning example of a versatile chronograph that marries the quintessential look and feel of a traditional chronograph with dashes of contemporary design. Tudor's Heritage Black Bay Chronograph is a brilliant watch that emphasises balance, restraint and an air of discreteness

Omega Speedmaster Professional

A tried, tested and true classic, Omega's Speedmaster Professional verges on infamy and is a just addition to this list. Surprisingly affordable considering its inherited fame, the Speedmaster Professional is one of the world's greatest chronographs, period.

Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro

The Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro is functional, purposeful and draws on the notion of real world application. From its added day-date complication to the generous addition of a variety of colours, the Fireman Storm Chaser Pro may not be something you would expect to line up next to Omega's Speedmaster, but it does have enough to stand up on its own two feet as a wonderful example of a modern chronograph.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph

TAG Heuer's Carrera Chronograph is, like Omega's Speedmaster, an icon of contemporary watchmaking. Available in a multitude of colour, dial and case variations, the beloved Carrera Chronograph is a beautiful mesh of traditional styling with modern execution and features a skeletonised dial, the typical layout of the Carrera's chronograph functions and an aesthetic that is perhaps one of the greatest ever chronograph canvases.

Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph

The first of two Breitlings listed is the Superocean Heritage II Chronograph. From its mesh bracelet to the dramatic blue on the dial and bezel, the Superocean Heritage II Chronograph holds its own as a wearable, useful and soundly made modern chronograph.

Bell & Ross BR V2-94 Chronograph

Bell & Ross has made many variations of its horizontally-oriented chronograph, with the BR V2-94 Chronograph being a prime example of just how versatile the base design is. Featuring a gorgeous cream coloured dial and orange highlights, the BR V2-94 Chronograph's aesthetic is emphatically casual but at the same time well versed to being dressed up with a more formal attire.

Breitling Navitimer 1 Chronograph

Breitling's Navitimer 1 Chronograph is the second piece from the historic manufacture to be featured. My sentiment is that the Navitimer 1 Chronograph is the quintessential chronograph, combining an enormous amount of information on a dial that is legible, that falls in line with what we've all come to love and expect from the Navitimer along with being completely infatuating.

Zenith Heritage Pilot Type 20 Chronograph

Featuring an enlarged onion crown, a gorgeous slate grey textured dial and a green nubuck leather strap, the Zenith Heritage Pilot Type 20 Chronograph is an affordable way to get your hands on a chronograph with the genome of a traditional pilot's watch. The cathedral hands and hour numerals coupled with the machined pushers and case truly make this one of the best chronographs under $5,000.
