Audemars Piguet Releases 40+(!) New Royal Oaks


To celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the world's most iconic timepieces, Audemars Piguet has unveiled a whopping amount brand new Royal Oak references, with each piece marking the turning of the tide for the maison. That's a far cry from what many naysayers were harping on about and it's a huge bonus for all of the Royal Oak fanatics and admirers from around the world. We've got a new "Jumbo", a couple of tourbillons, some openworked pieces and a handful of new chronographs with exhibition casebacks among the new releases.


Each of the new models (with the exception of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 38mm and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 43mm) will have a 22k gold 50th anniversary commemorative rotor on their respective movements that has been toned to match the colour of the case.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo”16202 Extra-Thin

Featuring the new in-house calibre 7121, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin 16202 collection does away with the ebauche Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 2121 used for the past half-century. Measuring 39mm wide and 8.10mm in thickness, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin 16202 is available with a steel, yellow gold, rose gold or platinum case, and is priced from $33,200USD.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding 37mm

Expectations are ripe with the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding 37mm evolution collection, with its eleven models conveying a more modern look and feel. Measuring 37mm across and 8.90mm in thickness, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding 37mm evolution is powered by the new calibre 5900 and comes in either a steel, a two-tone steel and rose gold or a full rose gold case. Priced from $24,100USD.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 38mm/41mm

Another bunch of epic additions, this time in the form of the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph. Available with either a stainless steel or rose gold case in either 38mm or 41mm (11mm and 12.4mm in thickness, respectively), the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph is available in a variety of dial colours and diamond settings, with the in-house calibre 4401 powering the 41mm model. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 43mm

What we have with the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 43mm models are four more configurations. We have two models with black “Méga Tapisserie” dials and two with 18K white-gold dials set with diamonds. All models feature 43mm wide and 14.40mm thick white gold cases, with each model being powered by the calibre 4401, the same movement used in the new Royal Oak Chronograph 41mm collection. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Frost

Two new frosted models of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph have been unveiled. One in white gold and the other in yellow gold, complete with a matching frosted bracelet. Both models are powered by the manufacture calibre 4401, both measure 41mm across and both are priced at 69,400CHF.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding 34mm Black Ceramic

Not exactly thee same model released last year. This new model now features a logo made from 24k rose gold, new sizing and lengthening of the hour markers and hands, along with a revised ceramic bracelet. Not exactly revolutionary, but still note-worthy. Priced at $48,900USD.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Openworked

Audemars Piguet knocked it out of the park with the new Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Openworked. Available in the same dimensions as the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin 16202, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Openworked comes in either a steel or a rose gold case and features extensive openworking, showing for the first time an almost uninterrupted view of the new calibre 7124 (the skeletonised version of the calibre 7121). Priced from $90,400USD.


Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Flying Tourbillon

Three new variations of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Flying Tourbillon enter the fray. Measuring 41mm across and 10.60mm in thickness, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Self-Winding Flying Tourbillon is available with either a stainless steel, titanium or rose gold case, features the in-house calibre 2950. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon Openworked

Last but certainly not least is the immense Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon Openworked. Crafted in 41mm by 10.60mm of stainless steel, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon Openworked 41mm is an exceptional new release and perhaps the crowning jewel of this 50th anniversary collection. One for the ages.
