Inspired by the seemingly supple but overarching powerhouse that is the Jaguar D-Type, the winner of three Le Mans 24 Hour races between 1955 and 1957, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type captures the quintessential feel of that iconic car. Packaged beautifully, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type is an interesting approach to inspired-watchmaking.
Measuring 43mm across and 17.15mm in thickness, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type is neither small nor dainty. But neither was the Jaguar D-Type. Bremont’s trademark satin and hardened Trip-Tick stainless-steel case is durable enough to handle the rigors of day-to-day wear, as well as being comfortable and damn well put together.
The blue dial with contrasting brushed nickel sub-dials and tachymeter ring are all very reminiscent of cars belonging to the era of the Jaguar D-Type, and in the case of the Bremont Jaguar D-Type, form definitely meets function. The heritage Jaguar logo in enamel at 6 o’clock is just one of the many epic additions to the Bremont Jaguar D-Type, along with the Dunlop tyre-tread patterned crown, the blue Jaguar leather strap and the Jaguar steering wheel inspired rotor.
Speaking of the movement, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type is powered by the BE-50AE automatic chronometer, boasting a respectable 42-hour power reserve, along with a Glucydur balance, an Anachron balance spring, a Nivaflex 1 mainspring and, of course, that awesome steering wheeled shaped rotor. In the case of the Jaguar D-Type, whose gorgeous body hid the monstrous engine and chassis beneath its lovely lines and curves, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type rings true to the ode of keeping the party in the front and the business in the back.
Cool from any and all angles, the Bremont Jaguar D-Type is a wonderful celebration of one of the finest products ever created, the incredible Jaguar D-Type.
The Bremont Jaguar D-Type is priced at $8,800AUD and is limited to 300-pieces.
