MR PORTER & NET-A-PORTER x Watches & Wonders: Part 2

In part one we had a look at some incredible pieces from Ulysse Nardin, IWC and Cartier. In part two we get to have a look at one of MR PORTER's newest maisons it will now carry, Bovet, along with new pieces from the likes of Girard-Perregaux, Piaget and Roger Dubuis. Enjoy!

Bovet Récital 29 Moon-Phase

Bovet is one of the maisons that MR PORTER will now be featuring on its e-commerce platform. Steeped in a rich history that spans over two centuries, Bovet is an exquisite maison whose timepieces resonate throughout the generations. One of the highlights of the Bovet manufacture is the incredible Récital 29 Moon-Phase.

In its blue dialled guise, the Récital 29 Moon-Phase is an astounding take of classical watchmaking, however pictured here is the green dial variant. The thickened bezel and lugs are contrasted by the ornate sapphire crown. The blue guilloche dial offsets the openworkings of the mainplate, which matches with the alligator leather strap, all of which work together harmoniously.

There is also a certain level of wearability with the Récital 29 Moon-Phase, too. Its bold look gives it the innate ability to be worn more casually, but at the same time it can easily divvy up a more formal outfit. Superb stuff.

Girard-Perregaux Free Bridge

An ornate creation from one of the world's most storied watchmakers, the Girard-Perregaux Free Bridge is the ultimate expression of the contemporary meeting the traditional. The Free Bridge is a fresh and technical interpretation of the Girard-Perregaux maison, laying claim to producing some of the world's most complicated and most beautiful timepieces.

The DNA of the Bridge collection is no doubt apparent through the Free Bridge. Its inverted dial evokes the look and feel of a highly modern timepiece that still pays tribute to its deeper historic roots. The monochromatic look of the Free Bridge is offset by the glowing purple balancing jewels, while the beautiful finishings of the case and the dial continues the theme of true haute horlogerie.

Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech

Panerai's innovative approach to its case materials has led us to the magnificent Luminor Marina Carbotech. Clad in Panerai's proprietary alloy named Carbotech, the Luminor Marina Carbotech features a stunning darkened aesthetic offset by the blue luminous hour numerals, markers and hands.

This is a supremely interesting watch. The case features impeccable finishing. The bezel is beautifully brushed. The dial is deep, dark and ominous. And the blue luminescence on the dial enhances the unforgiving look of the watch.

At work or at play, the Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech can truly do no wrong.

Piaget Polo

Green dials are a hit right now, with Piaget's Polo jumping on that bandwagon with gusto. This particular model is a limited edition piece of only 888 models made. It features a stunning green PVD dial with horizontal striping offset by rose gold-coloured hands and date window.

The elemental look of the stainless steel case and applied finishings round off what is in my honest opinion a very interesting watch that does away with conventions and marches to the beat of its own drum.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Blacklight

Clad in DLC-coated titanium and adorned with diamonds, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Blacklight is an incredibly avant-garde proposition that I find absolutely compelling. I love the architectural approach Roger Dubuis took with the openworked movement. It's a brilliantly complicated look that just begs for your attention.

With every glance you see something else. A finely brushed bridge. Angular edges. Sharp lines and an overall intricate look that is just so intriguing. Exceptional stuff from Roger Dubuis, as always.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán

Modelled after the legendary Lamborghini Huracán's V10 engine, the Excalibur Spider Huracán is Roger Dubuis' attempt at combining the minutiae details of watchmaking with the sheer power of a supercar. And boy, what a look! The Excalibur Spider Huracán features a titanium case with "Verdi Ithaca" detailing to dramatic effect.

The Excalibur Spider Huracán is almost mythical in nature, harmoniously combining true high end modern haute horlogerie with an eye for design and an air of nonchalance in its pursuit to be something that is, above all else, exceptional. And exceptional is just what the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán is.
