Welcome back to the next instalment of our regular series, MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Picks of the Week. In this week's round up we'll be featuring some incredible pieces from IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier and Vacheron Constantin. Enjoy!
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph
Drawing inspiration from the original 1968 divers alarm model, the Polaris Chronograph marries the quintessential look of a chronograph you can wear everyday with a gorgeous multi-textured blue dial. The contrast between the polished and satin-brushed stainless steel case adds another element of contrast to the Polaris Chronograph, with the same treatment being carried out on the steel bracelet.
Cartier Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule
Using the Roman numerals as the bridges and opening up the majority of the dial, the Cartier Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule is a striking combination of modernity, of complexity and of boldness. Plenty of presence is in the Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule, accentuated by the ADLC-coated stainless steel aesthetic. Just fantastic.
IWC Ingenieur Chronograph
The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph features a beautiful sunburst blue dial encased in a multi-finished steel case. I particularly like the smooth look of the polished steel bezel which blends really well with the look of the blue dial. The exposed rectangular pushers and riveted crown add elements of practicality, with the addition of the date window compounding its real-world functionality.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon
This is a watch that I had the pleasure of spending a fair amount of time with (review coming very soon), so I can personally attest to its quality. At 39mm, the Master Ultra Thin Moon sits beautifully on the wrist. It's comfortable, it's legible and while it may seem quite dressy, the classical look of the dial and the slim case allows it to be worn in even the most casual of settings. Grab a loupe and Jaeger-LeCoultre's craftsmanship becomes even more apparent as you gaze closely at the dial and the movement. Supreme.
Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix Complete Calendar
Vacheron Constantin's Fiftysix Complete Calendar is a compelling watch. Two apertures depict the day and month, while a black arrow-tipped hand points to the date. There's a moonphase indicator at 6 o'clock, as well as the typical hours, minute and seconds hands in the centre stack. The play on different shades of grey is a nice touch, as is the architectural approach of having the case envelope half of the crown.
Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum
Created in partnership with UNICEF, the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum gives the wearer the ability to simultaneously tell the time in 24 different time zones. The world map in the centre of the dial has beautiful pops of colour and rounds off what is a very interesting piece perfect for the savvy traveller.
