MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week #108

Welcome to the next edition of MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week. In this week's instalment, we'll be featuring a handful of amazing watches from the likes of Panerai, IWC and Ulysse Nardin. Enjoy!

Panerai Luminor GMT PAM01279

Panerai's 'Luminor' watch has been expertly crafted in Switzerland with a cushion-shaped titanium case and a crown-protecting device. The sun-brushed blue dial is detailed with luminous hands and markers for visibility in low light, along with a seconds sub-dial and a GMT function to keep track of two time zones. It runs on an in-house calibre P.9010 automatic movement with a three-day power reserve and fastens with a sleek black alligator strap.

IWC Pilot's Royal Maces Chronograph

The Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni is home to the elite Strike Fighter Squadron 27 fleet, better known as the 'Royal Maces' - they're notable for their black and yellow insignia, the same colours on IWC's 'Pilot' watch. Powered by the Swiss calibre 69380 automatic movement, this chronograph is designed with a strong black zirconium oxide ceramic case and classic leather strap. It's only manufactured in limited quantities of 500 per year, making it an excellent collector's piece.

IWC Big Pilot's Monopusher Le Petit Prince Limited Edition

IWC's 'Big Pilot's Le Petit Prince' reference pays homage to one of the best-selling works in literary history, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince. Produced in a limited run of 500 pieces, this 'Monopusher' edition is designed with a 46mm stainless steel case and blue dial - nodding to the writer and aviator's story - and luminous hands to ensure optimal legibility. It has a Santoni leather strap and exhibition case back that displays the inner workings of the in-house calibre 59365 automatic movement.

Bremont MB Savanna Chronometre

The 'MB Savanna' is the result of Bremont's partnership with Martin-Baker - the British engineering company approached the watchmaker to create the ultimate aviation timepiece that would withstand the extreme pressure of ejector seats. Its robust yet lightweight 43mm titanium case is protected with a technical coating and an anti-magnetic Faraday ring; inside, the calibre 11 1/2" BE-36AE movement - modified with an automatic winding bridge for increased shock resistance - ensures the efficient running of the time and date-keeping functions.

Ulysse Nardin Diver Automatic

Ulysse Nardin's designs are intrepid by nature. Modelled on vintage styles, this uniquely numbered 'Diver' watch has an uncluttered dial that's finished with the GPS coordinates of its manufacture. The case is crafted from stainless steel and PVD and houses a precise UN-816 automatic movement. Super-LumiNova® hands and rose gold-tone contrasts enhance its readability.

Panerai Luminor Perpetual Calendar PAM00742

While visually streamlined, Panerai's latest iteration of the 'Luminor' watch offers an impressive amount of functionality, all of which is simple to glean, at that. With time and date functions to the front, the perpetual calendar is moved to the exhibition back, and accounts for leap years, too. A GMT hand for tracking dual time zones niftily hides under the hour hand until needed, while a sub-dial indicates day and night. It's engineered from Goldtechâ„¢, which is extremely durable and averse to oxidisation.
