MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week #53

Welcome to the next instalment of our weekly column where we feature some of our favourite pieces from the premier online men's fashion destination, MR PORTER. In this week's MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week segment we'll be highlighting some incredible pieces from the likes of Vacheron Constantin, IWC and Roger Dubuis. Enjoy!

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon Automatic

A new addition to Vacheron Constantin’s ‘Overseas' collection, this watch pays tribute to one of the most renowned complications in watchmaking - the tourbillon, which fights gravity's pull and enhances time-telling precision. Housed in a 42.5mm stainless steel case, the model's automatic calibre 2160 features a lengthy 80-hour power reserve and mesmerising 60-second mechanism in the brand’s iconic Maltese cross carriage. It's hallmarked with the prestigious Geneva Seal, visible through the exhibition case back, and while fitted on a brushed stainless steel bracelet with polished edges, it can also be worn on the included alligator and rubber straps.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Blacklight Limited Edition Skeleton

After dark, the impressive architecture of Roger Dubuis' 'Excalibur Blacklight' watch is illuminated by neon streaks of light. They're crafted from lab-grown sapphire crystal - the same material typically used as bearings in a movement - innovatively engineered into fine tubes interlacing the skeletonised dial, making it all the more dynamic. It's certainly worth admiring - the movement takes no less than 530 hours to produce, including 170 alone for the Poinçon de Genève engraving. Set on a bracelet strap, this 18-karat pink gold limited edition is set with diamonds, rubies and sapphires tracing the lines of its bezel and micro-rotor.

IWC Portugieser Chronograph

IWC unveiled this edition of its 'Portugieser Chronograph' at Shanghai's 2020 'Watches & Wonders' event to much fanfare. After all, it's the first time in the iconic timepiece's almost 30-year history that it comes with a bracelet strap, making it wearable for all kinds of occasions. Built entirely from stainless steel, it features a refined silver-plated face complete with a pair of sub dials and blued hands, numerals and indices. The automatic movement is made in-house and can be admired through the exhibition case back.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time

Vacheron Constantin's 'Overseas' collection celebrates watchmaker Mr François Constantin's journeying and openness to the world. This 'Dual Time' reference has an 18-karat pink gold case housing a precise Swiss-made 5110 DT automatic movement with a 60-hour power reserve. Ideal for the modern traveller, it features a satin-finished dial with hour, minute and second hands as well as a second time zone, day-night indicator and date window. You can switch between the alligator and rubber straps, depending on what the occasion calls for.

Panerai Luminor 1950 Marina PAM00352

Panerai's watch has a cushion-shaped case, crown-protecting bridge and small second sub-dial at nine o'clock - all design details from the original 'Luminor Marina' created for the Royal Italian Navy in the 1940s. Featuring a sandwich dial that allows luminescence to shine through the cutout numerals, it's been made in Switzerland from durable titanium and powered by an in-house automatic P.9000 movement that's visible through the exhibition case back.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas

Vacheron Constantin created its 'Overseas' watch for those with active lifestyles and pays tribute to the spirit of travel through its design - the oscillating weight, which can be viewed through the exhibition case back, is engraved to resemble a wind rose. Crafted from 18-karat pink gold, it has elegant luminescent markings and an open aperture at 3 o'clock displaying the date. The Swiss-made 5100 automatic movement is composed of 172 parts and appointed the 'Hallmark of Geneva' seal for its exceptional quality. You can alternate between the alligator and rubber straps according to your agenda.
