Welcome the first Watches Of The Week edition of 2024. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. In the year's very first instalment, I'll be highlighting some new releases both of 2024 and also of the end of 2023, including new watches from Longines, Lederer, Arnold & Son, Franck Muller and Rebellion. Happy reading and I hope you all have a healthy, successful and prosperous year ahead.
Rebellion Drops Two New Limited Editions

Rebellion Timepieces unveiled two new limited edition watches ahead of the 46th Dakar race. Both pieces feature an aesthetic reminiscent of the treacherous terrain and environment that the racers have to endure over the 48-hour monster marathon.
On the left is the Predator Chrono Dakar 2024, and on the right is the Predator 2.0 Dakar 2024. Both models have a carbon fibre case, and each piece has a colour palette that is inspired by the 7,891 mile race.
Verdict: Different, inconspicuous and very cool.
Longines Master Collection GMT

Longines has unveiled its first piece of 2024 with the new Master Collection GMT. Available in either yellow or rose gold, the new Longines Master Collection GMT has that quintessentially classical look and feel reminiscent of timepieces from generations ago.
Both models are limited to only 500 pieces, and both feature a frosted silver dial, Roman numerals and leaf-shaped hands. Powering the Longines Master Collection GMT is the L844.5 calibre, made by ETA for Longines and based on the ETA 2892. Pricing for the Longines Master Collection GMT is quite expensive at USD14,750.

Model: Master Collection GMT

Verdict: Price point is quite high so I'm not sure who the target market Longines is aiming to penetrate with this piece, but it's quite beautiful nonetheless.
Arnold & Son Unveils Two Year Of The Dragon Pieces

Arnold & Son unveiled two new pieces commemorating 2024 being the Year Of The Dragon. The maison released the Perpetual Moon Red Gold "Year Of The Dragon", as well as the Magna Red Gold "Year Of The Dragon".
Each model features the dragon in all of its glory, crafted with impeccable attention to detail and made out of red gold. The Magna Red Gold "Year Of The Dragon" has a moon made of red gold, while the Perpetual Moon Red Gold "Year Of The Dragon" has a panoramic moon phase with the dragon depicted below it.
Verdict: Arnold & Son quietly doing what it does best.
Lederer Central Impulse Chronometer 'InVerto'

Beyond anything else, Bernhard Lederer creates some of the most fascinating timepieces on the planet. The new Central Impulse Chronometer 'InVerto' follows suit behind white gold, rose gold and steel models, with the latest edition featuring a black DLC coated stainless steel case.
The focal point here is that almost complete exposed calibre CIC 9018 which essentially replaces the dial. It features twin barrels, independent gear trains, an oversized balance wheel and escapement, as well as a 10-second remontoire.

Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon Vienne

Inspired by Vienna's iconic architectural landmarks, the new Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon Vienne is the perfect combination of aesthetics, finishings and chronometry performance.
The Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon Vienne is available in rose gold, white gold and yellow gold, each with a price tag of €218,000.
