Watches of the Week: 04/05/2020 - 10/05/2020

Welcome back to the next instalment of our regular series highlighting all of the past week's new watch releases, 'Watches of the Week'. In this week's round up we'll be featuring new watches from Cartier, Breguet and Urwerk, amongst others. Stay safe and enjoy!

Cartier Unveils Three New Superwatches

Originally launched in 2008, the Cartier Fine Watchmaking collection was created as a platform for Cartier to demonstrate its ability to create high-end, high-horology, complicated timepieces. Cartier has just announced three magnificent watches, each as intricate, complex and beautiful as the other. First we have the Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Hour Skeleton, neck the Rotonde de Cartier Grand Complication Skeleton, and finally the Rotonde de Cartier Minute Repeater Mysterious Double Tourbillon. Each piece is encased in pink gold, with each watch being priced on request.

Breguet Reine De Naples 8918

Now available with a Grand Feu Enamel dial encased in white gold and featuring diamonds on the bezel, dial rehaut, crown and at the 6 o'clock marker. This is an especially beautiful timepiece whose distinct oval-like case draws inspiration from the original series of pieces released in 2002. The Reine De Naples 8918 looks fabulous, and where many female-oriented watches are powered by a Quartz movement, the Reine De Naples 8918 actually features Breguet's in-house automatic calibre 553/7. The Reine De Naples 8918 is priced at $50,500AUD.

Urwerk UR-100 Gold Edition

How do you make one of the world's most dramatic, most unique and most polarising watches even more extraordinary? Well, in the case of the Urwerk UR-100, you simply encase it in solid gold! This is not the place for me to get into the nitty-gritty of the UR-100's satellite movement, but what I will say is that the theatrics of the UR-100 is further emphasised by the ostentatious nature of that solid yellow gold, satin finished case. The UR-100 Gold Edition is limited to only 25 pieces and will cost 58,000CHF.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin with Diamonds

Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin now features diamond indices in a case made out of either platinum or pink gold. The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin, references 15206PT and 15207OR, also features a stunning black onyx dial, which serves as the perfect backdrop to showcase those beautiful diamonds. The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin with Diamonds in pink gold will cost $61,200USD, while pricing for the platinum variant is on request for now.

Breitling Is Now On E-Com!

A simple title understates what is the incredibly difficult task of adding a new commercial avenue, which is just what Breitling has done. Announced a few days ago, Breitling is now officially trading online, selling its models, including the latest novelties unveiled during the super successful Summit webcast. Happy shopping guys! :)

Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième

Jaquet Droz has released 7 brand new variations of its iconic Grande Seconde Quantième. Each model features the distinct design elements we've all come to know and love from the Grande Seconde Quantième collection, including the 8-shaped orientation of the sub-dial registers. These new models also features a slimmer case and Grand Feu enamel dials in a variety of colour palettes, with each variation offering a different approach and style.

SevenFriday P3C/03 'Beach Club'

SevenFriday's P3C/03 is an extension of a collection of watches that is based on the industrial look part of the steampunk movement. Each piece is modelled after a standard distinct look. And each piece boasts a bold, boisterous and aggressive look that I absolutely love. The P3C/03 is the latest variation of SevenFriday's brand-defining watch, combining a unique colour palette of blues and yellows, mirroring the ocean and sand, paired with the industrial colours of blacks and greys to dramatic effect. The P3C/03 is priced at $1,995AUD.

Corum Admiral 42 Bronze

New from Corum is the Admiral 42 Bronze, the latest model to showcase the watchmaker's affinity for nautical design. Available with two dial colours, blue and green, the Admiral 42 Bronze features the brand's distinctive 12-sided dodecagon case which measures 42mm in diameter and a fairly thin 10.00mm in thickness. In keeping with its nautical roots, the Admiral 42 Bronze features 12 pennant-shaped hour markers on the dial, too. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

Bausele Vintage 2.0

Bausele, a pioneering Australian watchmaking brand, has announced the country's very first hybrid connected smartwatch. In keeping with the demands of the market, the Vintage 2.0's look draws inspiration from the typical classical dress watch aesthetic. The Vintage 2.0 features a variety of smartwatch functions, including call notifications, sleep monitoring and activity tracking, along with a GPS that enables you to set the local time with a push of a button. The Vintage 2.0 measures 40mm across and 11mm in thickness, it's incredibly compact especially considering its technical features. The Bausele Vintage 2.0 is available in a variety of dial, case and strap colour combinations, has its own smartphone application and will cost a surprisingly affordable $750AUD.
