Watches of the Week: 06/09/2021 - 12/09/2021

Welcome to the latest edition of our regular series, Watches of the Week. In this week's instalment, we'll be featuring the new watches from the likes of Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux, Franck Muller and Panerai. Enjoy!

Audemars Piguet Unveils Three New Watches

Audemars Piguet has, for the second week in a row, released a handful of new editions. The first two are new models added to the Code 11.59 collection, including a time-only and chronograph model, each with an 18k white gold case and each featuring a stunning smoked blue sunburst lacquered dial. The third piece is the all-out, balls-to-the-wall 436 baguette-cut diamond-encrusted 18k pink gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked. Is it weird that I really, really want one?!

Franck Muller Vanguard Revolution 3 Skeleton

From the original creator of the tonneau-shaped timepiece comes Franck Muller's new Vanguard Revolution 3 Skeleton. With its exposed skeletonised movement, openworked bridges and aluminium indicators, the Vanguard Revolution 3 Skeleton has a serious visceral edge over its competition. And that's not even taking into consideration the incredible and ultra-complication triple axis tourbillon, created in house to combat the force of gravity in all positions, as opposed to the classical tourbillon which only compensates it when the watch is worn in a vertical position. The price for this piece of haute horlogerie magnificence? An eye-watering 510,000CHF.

Panerai Unveils Two New Perpetual Calendars

Panerai's stock is on the up and up. And these two new perpetual calendar additions really hammer home the idea that Panerai is making an incredible and unrelenting comeback. Both models feature Panerai's P.4100 calibre which features a perpetual calendar, a GMT, a power reserve indicator and a seconds reset. The first model, reference PAM00742 is clad in the maison's Goldtech™, features a blue sun-brushed dial and is limited to 270 pieces. The second, reference PAM00715, is encased in Panerai's Platinumtech™, has a lovely green sun-brushed dial and is limited to only 100 pieces. My choice of the two would definitely be that delightful Goldtech™ PAM00742.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer Blue

New from Girard-Perregaux is the 18-piece limited edition sapphire Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer Blue. Encased entirely in sapphire crystal and featuring titanium lugs, the new Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer Blue was made exclusively for the esteemed luxury retailer. Giving its wearer a three-dimensional view into the inner workings of its movement, the Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer Blue is a visceral celebration of drama, theatrics and of detail. We can expect the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer Blue to be available in limited branches of Bucherer from September this year.
