Watches of the Week: 09/12/2019 - 15/12/2019

We're right on the cusp of Christmas and celebrating the end of another week means not only are we just a little bit closer to the best day ever, it also means another round up of all the latest watch releases in our regular series, Watches of the Week. In this week's instalment we have the latest pieces from the likes of H. Moser & Cie, RGM and Oris, along with another boutique opening in Sydney. Enjoy!

H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack

New from H. Moser & Cie is the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack. Capturing the effervescent feel of that deep, dark and expansive Vantablack dial, the new Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack does a fantastic job to highlight not only the innate beauty of the dial, but also the incredible complexity and workmanship of that double-hairspring flying tourbillon. The white gold 42mm wide case shines brightly, again further highlighting the sheer depth of that Vantablack dial, all the while drawing focus on the flying tourbillon. The H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack is priced at $118,800AUD and will be limited to only 50 pieces.

RGM Model 500-GMT-RS

The Model 500-GMT-RS is RGM's first timepiece with a bidirectional GMT bezel. Designed around the conceptual traits of a typical sports watch, the Model 500-GMT-RS features a durable case structure with vertically ribbing on the sides of the watch along with a 2mm thick sapphire crystal. The bezel's numerals are filled with ceramic, giving the indicator a more pronounced look. Tough looking, the Model 500-GMT-RS is an ideal travel companion more than capable of handling the best, and the worst, you can throw at it. Limited to only 50 pieces, the RGM Model 500-GMT-RS will cost $4,750USD.

IWC Opens its First Sydney Boutique

Last week, Jaeger-LeCoultre announced the opening of its first Sydney boutique, with A. Lange & Söhne announcing the same thing a few weeks prior. And now, us lucky Sydneysiders get yet another brand new boutique to visit, this time from IWC! Located on 84 King Street in the centre of Sydney's bustling CBD, the new boutique will feature 80 square meters of unprecedented access to IWC's six watch families. It will feature IWC's signature design cues: soft beige tones, dark wood accents, glass and neutral stones. Absolutely cannot wait to see it!

Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date

A remake of the original 1938 Big Crown Pointer Date, Oris' Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date sits at a slightly larger 40mm and this time features a bronze case, along with a bronze dial. The dial also features gold-plated cathedral hands, painted Arabic numerals, along with Super-LumiNova filling the hands and the hour markers. All in all it makes for a dramatic effect, with the earthy tones throughout the piece creating a subtle and very unassuming aesthetic. Priced at 1,900CHF, the Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date is available now.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde

New from Maurice Lacroix is the epic looking Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde. Stock full of complications, the Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde features a retrograde day, a retrograde date and a moonphase indicator, all encased in 43mm of steel and with either a blue or silver dial. The Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde's dial has plenty happening and one can make the claim of it being a touch too busy, but there is a certain synergy throughout the Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde's aesthetic that just seems to work. The Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde is priced at 6,900CHF.

Sydney Also Gets Its Own Panerai Boutique

First came A. Lange & Söhne. Then Jaeger-LeCoultre. Then IWC. And now, Panerai! As blessed as we already are to live in such a beautiful city, Sydney's ever-expanding horologically inclined community is fortunate enough to now have their own Panerai boutique to lust and drool over. With its Florentine roots and passion for the sea, Panerai's new Sydney boutique is set to align itself with the Maison's global retail design concept and DNA. Maybe it's time to make a move on that Radiomir California I've been itching to get my hands on...
