Watches of the Week: 23/08/2021 - 29/08/2021

Another week down, another round up of all the latest watch releases in our regular series, Watches of the Week. In this week's edition, we'll be featuring new pieces from IWC, Franck Muller and Hermès. Enjoy!

You can check out last week's releases here.

IWC PIlot's Watch Chronograph Edition "Inspiration4"

IWC has reached for the stars with its latest piece, literally. The new PIlot's Watch Chronograph Edition "Inspiration4" will be made in a limited run of only 4 pieces for the crew of the first all-civilian mission into orbit. Once these watches return from space, they will be auctioned off in aid of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Each model is encased in white ceramic with a titanium caseback that features a soft-iron inner case for extra protection against magnetic fields. It also has a sapphire crystal secured against displacement which is caused by drops in air pressure sitting atop a stunning blue lacquered dial with pad-printed white stars and a white rubber strap with a white leather inlay. Excited to see how it holds up in space!

Lederer Central Impulse Chronometer

New from Lederer is the Central Impulse Chronometer. First unveiled at last year's Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, the final version of the Central Impulse Chronometer in its complete form is outstanding. It features a dial with a pair of synchronised seconds hands moving in opposite directions encased in a 44mm case surrounded by two round and domed crystals. The Central Impulse Chronometer has two independent escapement wheels connected to an anchor and installed at the end of two separate gear trains, each with its own barrel and each with its own 10-second constant force remontoire. The end result is a precise movement with reduced internal friction and energy expenditure, available with either a blue dial or a rhodium-plated dial.

NOVE Trident Automatic

NOVE released the super thin Trident in the middle of last year. What I liked about the piece was its raw, natural and ultra-slim look. Fast-forward to just over a year later and the Trident is back, except now NOVE has incorporated a Swiss-made automatic movement into the piece. The new NOVE Trident Automatic comes with a stunning Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial and is available in a variety of coloured metal options. The new NOVE Trident Automatic is a very interesting piece, made even more desirable by its new mechanical movement. Franck Muller Mykonos Limited Edition

The new Franck Muller Mykonos Limited Edition is a celebration of one of the world's foremost party destinations. One of my favourite holiday destinations, Mykonos is an island in Greece that is part-legend, part-folklore, part-bucket-list and part-paradise. The Franck Muller Mykonos Limited Edition does well to capture the beauty and mayhem of the island, with pops of golds, blues and whites shining through. Made in a limited run of 16 pieces in brushed rose gold and 21 pieces in brushed titanium, the new Franck Muller Mykonos Limited Edition will be sold exclusively in Franck Muller Athens and Mykonos boutiques. Imagine rocking this at one of the beach parties at Tropicana or Super Paradise!

Hermès Arceau The Three Graces

New from Hermès is the Arceau The Three Graces. Featuring wood marquetry and miniature painting depicting a giraffe set against an aventurine dial, the new Arceau The Three Graces is a magnificent ode to the maison's disposition in creating beautiful artistic timepieces. Surrounding the stunning dial is a rim of diamonds which serves as the perfect border to the colourful look of the Arceau The Three Graces.

Piaget Polo 36mm

Piaget has unveiled its Polo in a new, female-focused size. Now available in a 36mm size with a date window at the bottom of the dial, the new Polo 36mm has been released in a variety of metals and dial colours, including a blinged-out diamond pave model which comes on either a matching pave bracelet or a leather strap.
