Watches of the Week: 23/09/2019 - 29/09/2019

Dimitri Tsilioris

Whether you let out a sign of relief, leap for joy or curl up in a ball of defeat, another week is done and dusted. And that means another round-up of all of last week's latest watch releases. In this instalment of Watches of the Week we have the latest pieces from Breitling, Omega, A. Lange & Söhne and TAG Heuer, amongst others. Enjoy!

Breitling Aviator 8 Mosquito

Drawing inspiration from the clocks produced by Breitling's Huit Aviation Department during the 1930s and 1940s, the Aviator 8 Mosquito features a lovely and super distinctive look that is very much reminscent of chronographs from a generation ago. Functional, arbituary and above all else damn appealing, the Aviator 8 Mosquito combines rugged good looks with a COSC chronometer chronograph movement. Priced at $10,500AUD, the Mosquito is definitely high up on my wish list.

TAG Heuer Monaco 1999-2009 Limited Edition

The celebrations of TAG Heuer's 50th anniversary of the Monaco may be drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean it's pulling back on design chic. Introducing the Monaco 1999-2009 Limited Edition, the next rendition celebrating the life of the Monaco. Featuring a very cool black and white panda-style dial with orange dial highlights within the iconic square case known to the Monaco, this limited edition model is definitely my favourite. Should probably get a move on if you want one though, as only 169 examples are being made with each costing $6,550USD.

Richard Mille RM 62-01 Tourbillon Vibrating Alarm Airbus Corporate Jets

The first of two new pieces from Richard Mille to be released in the past seven days is the behemoth (I mean that in the best way possible) RM 62-01 Tourbillon Vibrating Alarm Airbus Corporate Jets. Made in collaboration with Airbus Corporate Jets, the RM 62-01 Tourbillon Vibrating Alarm Airbus Corporate Jets features a titanium and carbon TPT exterior encasing the Calibre RM62-01. Chock full of functions you don't need but you know you want, the RM 62-01 Tourbillon Vibrating Alarm Airbus Corporate Jets is the quintessential "new money" watch for all of our ballers out there. And you're going to have to have some pretty deep pockets to grab one of the 30 RM 62-01 Tourbillon Vibrating Alarm Airbus Corporate Jets pieces going up for sale as each one costs an eye-watering 1,200,000CHF.

Richard Mille RM 50-04 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Kimi Räikkönen Limited Edition

The Iceman is one of Formula One's coolest cats, and to celebrate his well known and super entertaining persona is the Richard Mille RM 50-04 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Kimi Räikkönen Limited Editon. With the RM 50-04 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Kimi Räikkönen Limited Editon you can expect the same virtues that the Iceman himself carries with him. Ridiculous attentiveness to detail, insane levels of quality, a resistance to seemingly all external forces of nature, and a level-headedness in the wake of danger that would make anyone lose their bearings. All this and more for only $1,063,000USD. Hey, we didn't say the personified version of the Iceman would be cheap.

A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary”

A. Lange & Sohne has released the tenth and final celebratory piece, commemorating the past 25 years of the brand-defining Lange 1. Enter the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary”, a seriously understated watch that combines the fundamental appeal of a traditional Lange 1 timepiece with a dash of extraordinary in the form of that beautiful tourbillon. The Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” has all the tell-tale signs of a Lange 1 "25th Anniversary" watch: white gold case, silvered dial, blued steel hands, and hand-engraved movement details. Lange purists will love the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” for what it represents, and that's the marriage of tradition with modernism. Limited to 25 pieces and priced at €165,000. Just an FYI: you can purchase the entire 10-piece anniversary set for €833,600. Lange die-hards, please stand up.

Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Limited Edition for HODINKEE

Hats off to HODINKEE for continuously doing what they do to keep the industry alive and shaking. Introducing their latest piece, this time in collaboration with Montblanc: the 1858 Monopusher Limited Edition for HODINKEE. Monopusher chronographs are the coolest thing since sliced bread, and while I would have loved to have added this particular example to my collection, unfortunately parting with $30,000USD was a little bit above my means. Also my wife would have murdered me. Also, they're all sold out. But still, you can't not admire it, right?

Omega Seamaster Diver 300m For The 50th Anniversary Of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'

Celebrating the long and historic relationship of James Bond x Omega comes the Seamaster Diver 300mm For The 50th Anniversary Of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. Featuring the iconic gun-barrel swirl pattern in the middle of the dial along with the Bond family's coat of arms at 12 o'clock, the Seamaster Diver 300m looks like any other Seamaster Diver until you begin to look closer (...and closer). Gold hands, gold indexes, an 18k gold numbered plate on the side of the case, a secret "50" at 10:00 and a the "7" in the date window stylised after the iconic "007" font. Priced at $6,500USD, limited to 7,007 pieces and featuring the highly respected Master Chronometer certification.
