Welcome back to the next instalment of our regular series highlighting all of the new watches of the past seven days, Watches of the Week. In this week's round up we'll be featuring new watches from Rado, Bell & Ross, TAG Heuer and Richard Mille. Oh, as well as another ceramic Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet. Enjoy!
Here are the previous week's releases:
Watches of the Week: 16/11/2020 - 22/11/2020 Watches of the Week: 09/11/2020 - 15/11/2020 Watches of the Week: 02/11/2020 - 08/11/2020
Rado Captain Cook Bronze Burgundy
Now featuring a gorgeous burgundy dial with matching bezel and strap, the Rado Captain Cook Bronze Burgundy has just received a new lease of life. This model is the most striking of the three current models. It's a fresh, dramatic and altogether funky look that has great appeal -- to me at least. I love the contrast between the deep burgundy and the bronze, accentuated by the similarly-coloured hands and hour markers. The Rado Captain Cook Bronze Burgundy is priced at 2,600CHF.
Bell & Ross BR 03-92 White Camo
New from Bell & Ross is the BR 03-92 White Camo. With an aesthetic that is entirely indicative of its model name, the BR 03-92 White Camo indeed features a white-camo aesthetic on its dial and strap. Bell & Ross' iconic square-shaped instrument-inspired case continues the BR 03-92 White Camo's military theme. While available on the camo-coloured leather strap, the BR 03-92 White Camo is also available on a black rubber strap. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 White Camo is available in a limited run of only 999 pieces and will be priced at €3,500.
Richard Mille RM 71-02 Tourbillon Talisman Collection
Inspired by the disco-era of the 1970s, the Richard Mille RM 71-02 Tourbillon Talisman Collection features 10 distinct models, each made in a limited run of only 7 pieces. Cécile Guenat, Creative and Development Director at Richard Mille, comments: “The intense glamour of the disco era resided in a multiplication of colors and textures. I had to find a way to make this idea tangible. Working with the stones themselves proved to be a considerable challenge. Because stones of very similar hues can end up looking completely different depending on their size and the type of setting.”
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition
To celebrate Jack Heuer's 88th birthday, TAG Heuer has released a stunning 18k rose gold version of its Carrera Chronograph. Inspired by the solid-gold Carrera 1158CHN, the Carrera Chronograph Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition features a horizontally-orientated dual-register dial layout, a silky white dial offset by the black sub-dial registers and complimented by the rose gold hour markers and hands. The case itself is made of rose gold, further accentuating the exclusive look and feel of the piece. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition will be made in a limited run of only 188 pieces and will be priced at $26,700AUD.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Ceramic
As good as all of these releases are, Audemars Piguet's latest and greatest definitely leap-frogs them all as the best release of the week. Introducing the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Ceramic, a marvellous edition of one of the world's most beautiful openworked time-only watches. Initially only available in steel and rose gold, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked quickly rose to the top of many a collector's wish list. Fast forward to 2020 and the hype has all but died down. So, it should come as no surprise to everyone that Audemars Piguet decided to clad one of its most in-demand watches in one of its most desirable materials, black ceramic. This is a magical timepiece, easily surpassing expectations as one of the maison's best releases of 2020. I love the balance of the darkness from the ceramic case with the gold of the double balance wheels and the silvers and greys of the openworked dial. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Ceramic is not your conventional, run-of-the-mill, ceramic-clad Royal Oak. It's a beautiful, harmonious package that is as majestic as it is enthralling. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Ceramic will b e priced at 72,100CHF. I know what I want for Christmas.
