9 of the Latest Watch Releases of 2020

We're nearing the end of 2020, but that doesn't mean that our favourite watchmakers have become lackadaisical in releasing new watches. We've compiled a list of new watches that fit the bill of being fresh and interesting, as well as being accessible and relatively easy on your wallet.

Before you do end up pulling the trigger on a new watch, I think it's important to remember a few key considerations:

1. Get something that fits your lifestyle.

2. Buy from a reputable retailer, like Goldsmiths UK, one of our trusted affiliated partners.

3. Invest your money into the watch AND the brand.

4. Choose something that is versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways.

5. And most importantly, Buy what YOU like, not what the market tells you to like.

Omega Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary

The Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary is a celebration of all things Omega and NASA. In 1970, Omega received the "Silver Snoopy Award" from NASA, recognising the maison's contributions to space exploration as well as the Speedmaster's life-saving support during the rescue of Apollo 13.

Fast forward half a century later, and the Omega Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary is one of the coolest new watches of 2020, featuring the beloved beagle in the exact style of the silver pin that NASA gave to its award recipients. It's a fantastic iteration, embellishing on the brand's illustrious connection with Space.

Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite

Glashütte Original also released a new watch in the shape of the information-loaded Senator Cosmopolite. As data-packed as the Senator Cosmopolite is, there is an immense focus on legibility, apparent throughout. The Senator Cosmopolite features an abundance of useful information in a very classical looking package, with the galvanic blue dial with its sunray finish serving as the perfect backdrop.

The Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite's aesthetic is super classical, but there are moments throughout its contemporary approach that works really well.

IWC Top Gun Chronograph "SFTI"

This new watch from IWC draws inspiration from the “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” watch, which was created in 2018 in honor of the US Naval Aviation Community and is available only for TOPGUN graduates. IWC created the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” in collaboration with instructors based on Naval Air Station Leemore in California.

The IWC Top Gun Chronograph "SFTI" features a super stealthy black ceramic case, complemented by a Ceratanium caseback and pushers. The end of the seconds hand has a jet fighter outlined in red, along with a red small-seconds hand and red rings on the chronograph pushers, just for some extra points of colour differentiation.

Tudor Royal Day Date

Tudor's new Royal Day Date is a triumphant entry into the world of functional, versatility and daily applicability. The day-date complication is one of the most useful mechanical watch tools, and in a stainless steel case with matching bracelet, it's difficult to find a better alternative.

Tudor's Royal Day Date is one of the best new watches of 2020 by far, given it's super accessible price point, sound execution and variety.

Frederique Constant Vintage Rally Healey

The limited-edition Vintage Rally ‘Healey’ Watches have worked their way into the affections of classic car enthusiasts. Created as a result of the partnership between the Frederique Constant Manufacturer and the Austin Healey car brand. The design of the Vintage Rally Healey has been punctuated by rallies, meetings, races and shared passion for retro design.

I particularly like the combination of the green dial, the polished stainless-steel case and the light brown leather strap, combined together to create the look and feel of a vintage watch for the gentleman drivers.

Seiko Prospex Samurai

Seiko dropped what is one of its coolest new watch releases of 2020 in the shape of the Prospex Samurai. Combining a sporty and modern aesthetic, the Seiko Prospex Samurai features a textured gri-like black dial with cream and gold accented hour markers and hands.

Built to last and to handle the worst that you can throw at it, the Prospex Samurai is a striking watch that's super affordable and very fun.

Chopard Classic Racing Mille Miglia

New from Chopard is the Classic Racing Mille Miglia. As the official timekeeper of the world's most famous race for classic cars, Chopard has a penchant for creating some of the most beautiful classic car-inspired timepieces around, and the Classic Racing Mille Miglia is no exception to that.

Drawing inspiration from the elegant curves of a classic car body, the Classic Racing Mille Miglia evokes the perfect balance between automobile design and mechanical watchmaking, topped off by the rubber strap evoking the 1960s Dunlop tyre treads.

Oris 57th Reno Air Races Limited Edition

Inspired by the Reno Air Races, with its daredevil pilots racing wingtip-to-wingtip over the Nevada desert at speeds up to 800 kph, the new 57th Reno Air Races Limited Edition has a modern aesthetic that is undeniably cool.

As the event's official timepiece sponsor, the 57th Reno Air Races Limited Edition is Oris' modern rendition to a staple in aviation racing.

TAG Heuer Formula 1

TAG Heuer honours Brazillian Formula 1 Champion, Aryton Senna with the special edition Formula 1 watch. TAG successfully captures Ayrton Senna’s legacy, by producing a luxury sports watch with such bold and daring design and spirit.

Like similar Senna special-edition timepieces, the watch is fastened with a stainless-steel bracelet with iconic double S-links providing total comfort for everyday wear and out on the track.
