Footballers & Watches - May 2021

Welcome to May's edition of Footballers & Watches, our monthly series where we trawl the pages of our favourite footballers in search of watches, watches and more watches. In this month's instalment, we'll be featuring the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mo Salah, Neymar and Dele Alli wearing watches from Rolex, Roger Dubuis, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Enjoy!

Ivan Rakitic - Sevilla - Rolex GMT-Master II 'Pepsi'

Sevilla's playmaker and former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitić was seen wearing the almost unobtainable $13,600AUD Rolex GMT-Master II 'Pepsi'.

Dele Alli - Tottenham Hotspur - Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus

Dele Alli is one of Tottenham's most talented players and on his best day he is completely unplayable. Dele Alli is also a massive fan of haute horlogerie with a collection of grails, including the highly coveted Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus.

Daniel Sturridge - Free Agent - Patek Philippe 5712R Nautilus

The former Liverpool striker who is currently a free agent paired his rose gold Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus with a white strap. Can't say I hate it.

Tanguy Ndombele - Tottenham Hotspur - Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus

It seems as though the $63,550AUD Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus is a fan favourite amongst the world's best footballers, with Tottenham's Tanguy Ndombele the latest player to sport the illustrious model.

Presnel Kimpembe - PSG - Rolex Submariner

Presnel Kimpembe, one of PSG's star players, was seen wearing the not-so-common solid gold Rolex Submariner Date, paired with a black dial. Retail on this model is $52,150AUD.

Hakim Ziyech - Chelsea - Patek Philippe 5990 Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph

The zippy Ziyech is known for his eclectic and varied collection of watches, including none other than perhaps one of the most wearable of all the Nautilus models, the $77,000AUD Patek Philippe 5990 Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph.

Nordin Amrabat - Al-Nassr - Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked

Playing on the wing for Al-Nassier, Nordin Amrabat has a penchant for the absurd, much likes his delectable Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in steel, which retails for 53,300CHF.

Neymar - PSG - Rolex Daytona

One of the most expensive players in the world and easily one of the most talented, Neymar's stock continues to rise, reflected very much throughout his supremely expensive and desirable watch collection. Here he is sporting the delicious Rolex Daytona with a chocolate brown dial.

Riyad Mahrez - Manchester City - Richard Mille RM 055 Yas Marina Circuit

Riyad Mahrez sure knows how to pick a winning side, now enjoying his time as a mainstay for Manchester City. And perhaps to celebrate his deserved success, he treated himself to the stunning Richard Mille RM 055 Yas Marina Circuit. Not many of these lying around anymore.

Kieren Trippier - Atlético Madrid - Patek Philippe 5711R Nautilus

Kieren Trippier made the switch from Tottenham to Atlético Madrid where he just won the La Liga title. He was spotted recently wearing the ever-desirable Patek Philippe 5711R Nautilus, which retails for $83,600AUD.

Alessandro Diamanti - Western United - Patek Philippe 5205R Annual Calendar

Currently plying his trade for A-League side Western United, Alessandro Diamanti has previously played for the likes of Palmero, West Ham United, Brescia and Bologna, as well as representing Italy in the UEFA Euro tournament in 2012. The talented Italian midfielder was spotted wearing the classical Patek Philippe 5205R Annual Calendar which is priced at $75,600AUD.

Mohamed Salah - Liverpool - Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli

Mohamed Salah was only a goal off of getting his third Golden Boot title this year. Criminally underrated, Salah is one of the best goal scorers in the Premier League and, on his best day, is utterly unplayable. Here he is sporting the £55,850 Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli.

Bruno Fernandes - Manchester United - Rolex Daytona

Brune Fernandes has breathed life into a Manchester United side that was destined for a mid-table placing. Bruno's creativity, depth of skill and incredible passing ability has turned a dismal side into one that finished 2nd in the Premier League table. Bruno was spotted sporting the two-tone $24,600AUD Rolex Daytona, which is a piece that we rarely see these days. Suits him perfectly.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Everton - Rolex GMT-Master II 'Root Beer'

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a star-turner for Everton and is enjoying bucket-loads of success in his career. Here he is wearing the illustrious Rolex GMT-Master II 'Root Beer', which retails for $20,850AUD.

Raheem Sterling - Manchester City - Rolex Day-Date 40

Raheem Sterling is absolutely tearing it up for Manchester City. And as a devoted Liverpool fan that pains me to say. But you absolutely cannot deny his atmospheric rise into one of the world's best attacking footballers. We spotted Raheem wearing the beautiful $61,700AUD Rolex Day-Date 40 whilst chartering a super yacht on what looks to be a well deserved holiday.

Denis Suárez - Celta Vigo - Rolex Daytona

Denis Suárez of La Liga side Celta Vigo must have gotten the memo of the rise of the Rolex Daytona's stock because here is sporting it in all of its $51,650AUD glory. Love the green dial. Seriously beautiful stuff.

Mamadou Sakho - Crystal Palace - Richard Mille RM 07-01

An odd player wearing an odd watch. In what seems to be the most perfect match of player and watch in this month's edition, Mamadou Sakho was spotted wearing the very polarising diamond-encrusted Richard Mille 07-01. To this day I've yet to see a player pass the ball like he does. Reminiscing about his days heading Liverpool's defence still gives me anxiety.

Alisson Becker - Liverpool - Rolex Daytona

Alisson Becker. That header. Season changing stuff. Without his last minute headed goal (Yes, our goalkeeper scored a header off of a set piece in the dying embers of our game against West Brom), Liverpool would surely have finished outside of the top 4 and we wouldn't be celebrating another year of Champions League football. In saying that, a solid gold Rolex Daytona seems to be the most appropriate trophy-like watch for him. I am forever in your debt, sir.

Marcos Llorente - Atlético Madrid - Rolex GMT-Master II 'Pepsi'

Plying his trade for Atlético Marid, Marcos Llorente is another winner of the 2020/2021 La Liga title. We spotted Marco wearing the $13,600AUD Rolex GMT-Master II 'Pepsi'.

Roberto Firmino - Liverpool - Jacob & Co. Twin Turbo Furious Rose Gold

Roberto Firmino enjoyed a fruitful final few games in the season where we were able to see just how brilliant and masterful of a footballer that he really is. His genius on the field is matched only in his eclectic taste in watches, cue the $580,000USD Jacob & Co. Twin Turbo Furious in rose gold. Not many else out there that can pull this off, that's for sure.

Steven Gerrard - Rangers - Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus

Finally we have Steven Gerrard. My all-time favourite player, former captain of Liverpool and now league-winning manager of Scottish side Rangers, Steven Gerrard was the heart and soul of Liverpool during his time at the club. Sure to return in a managerial position, Steven Gerrard seems to be enjoying the fruits of his labour, such is the case with that Patek Philippe 5712 Nautilus strapped to his wrist.
