Founded in 1833 in the heart of the Vallée de Joux within the Swiss Jura Mountains, Jaeger-LeCoultre began its tenure of creativity and inventiveness. Fast forward to 2020, and the prolific maison has created more than 1,200 calibres and is responsible for countless horological innovations. A pioneering force of haute horlogerie, Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the most respected watchmaking maisons in the world.
So, as the end of 2020 draws near, we decided to put together a handful of watches for your perusal that we think really epitomise the brand as a watchmaker and as an industry icon. From the art deco-inspired Reverso to the classic Master collection and the precision-driven Duomètre, we feel that these pieces are a great representation of Jaeger-LeCoultre's variety and depth in its collection of watches. Enjoy!
Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Quantième Lunaire
Jaeger-LeCoultre's Duomètre Quantième Lunaire is a triumph of refinement, balance, poise and of mechanical mastery. It features a movement made up of 374 separate parts with two independent barrels, each equipped with a 50-hour power reserve.
In its pink gold guise, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Quantième Lunaire is a magnificent proposition that serves both as a statement piece as well as something you can dress up or down.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual is the quintessential perpetual calendar. It combines legibility with wearability, technicality with superb aesthetics, all packaged beautifully within a 39mm wide pink gold case.
It's an understated affair, with Jaeger-LeCoultre drawing on classicism in its execution of the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Geographic
Jaeger-LeCoultre calls its Master Control Geographic the ultimate travel watch. It gives the wearer the innate ability of simultaneously reading the time at home and abroad. The Master Control Geographic's highly information-laden dial is still easy enough to understand with plenty of differentiation between each respective indicator.
Jaeger-LeCoultre pulled out all of the stops with the Master Control Geographic, and it remains to this day a finite work of horological art, perfectly balancing aesthetics with mechanical technique.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar
A triumph of 2020, Jaeger-LeCoultre's Master Control Calendar is a notable piece well and truly worth your attention. There's an indefinable charm throughout the Master Control Calendar that is amiss in many other comparable calendrier timepieces.
I love the configuration of the dial and the legible layout of all the indicators throughout the Master Control Calendar. In my opinion, this is one of the most impressive watches to come out of Jaeger-LeCoultre in recent years.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon
This is a watch that I had the pleasure of spending some time with earlier this year. Jaeger-LeCoultre's Master Ultra Thin Moon hit all the right notes when I reviewed it, and it continues to be a mainstay in the world of dressy classical moonphase watches.
The Master Ultra Thin Moon is perfectly balanced and has just the right amount of everything everywhere, such is the technique that is apparent within the Jaeger-LeCoultre maison. Truly spectacular.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic
Jaeger-LeCoultre's Polaris Automatic is a beautiful timepiece that features a deep blue dial in an elegant steel case. The dial actually features multiple textures throughout as well as different graduated hues of blue.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic is full of character and really hammers home the notion that there is more to the sports watch market than the mainstays.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface
Last but certainly not least is the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface. Clad in stainless steel and featuring the collection's infamous art deco-inspired lines, the Reverso Tribute Duoface also features a leather strap specially designed by Casa Fagliano.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface is in itself an institution of watchmaking and should absolutely be considered a collection staple amongst your Submariners and your Speedmasters.
