MR PORTER: Watch Picks Of The Week

Last week's edition of MR PORTER: Watch Picks Of The Week was an interesting one. I featured a varied assortment of watches which all subsequently fell into the category of being fairly accessible. Perhaps, however, with the exception of the fabulous Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01288.

For this week's instalment, I've put together a rather widespread collection of watches that cover a lot of bases across the spectrum of modern horology. I'll be featuring pieces like Panerai's Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229, Cartier's gold affair that is the Santos de Cartier, as well as a very interesting perpetual calendar from none other than Frederique Constant.

IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph

The green machine that is the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph is a formidably capable timepiece. More than suited to handle the rigours of daily wear as much as it is being dressed up, the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph offers lots of chronometrical value with a dash of pizzaz.

Cartier Santos de Cartier

Bling meets tradition with the esteemed Cartier Santos de Cartier. I love its perplexing, almost nonchalant take on giving gold the most perfect platform to strut its stuff. Ultimate baller status watch. Love, love it.

Cartier Pasha de Cartier Moon Phase

The Cartier Pasha de Cartier Moon Phase is a brilliant timepiece that marries the worlds of ornate horology, design, culture and tradition all in one very beautiful package. Not as conventional as the other pieces on this list, but one that is more than deserving of your attention.

Frederique Constant Highlife Perpetual Calendar

The democratisation of the perpetual calendar is no more apparent than it is here with the Frederique Constant Highlife Perpetual Calendar. Legible, wearable and affordable. What else do you want in a genuine mechanical perpetual calendar?

Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229

The ultimate tool watch amongst its other peers in this list is the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229. Well made, well put together and executed flawlessly, the ever ready Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229 holds all of the attributes you would expect in a watch that is tough as nails.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar

For sheer chronometrical value, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar reigns supreme here. The inclusion of a complete calendar and a moon phase alongside the passing hours, minutes and seconds makes for a compelling and surprisingly practical package that is made even better with that stainless steel bracelet.
