Welcome to the very first edition of our new regular series, Favourite Watches On Amazon This Week. In this new weekly series, we'll be trawling through the coffers of Amazon to bring to you some of our favourite watches that we come across, much like how we do in our regular MR PORTER x Haulogerie: Watch Picks of the Week series. In this opening edition of the series, we'll be featuring some amazing pieces from Audemars Piguet, Rolex and Breguet. Enjoy!
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15400ST
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is an icon of modern horology, transcending time and becoming a generational grail. And the reference 15400ST is one of the all-time best references. Featuring a beautifully finished 41mm stainless steel case, that iconic octagonal steel bezel, a blue "Grande Tapisserie" dial and a movement with all of the trimmings visible through the open sapphire caseback, it's a hard nut to beat and it's one whose value is only going to rise.
Rolex GMT-Master II Everose Gold
Dubbed the "Rootbeer", the Rolex GMT-Master II Everose Gold reference 126715CHNR remains high on almost everybody's grail list. Arguably one of the most aesthetically brilliant GMT-Master II models ever made, the Rolex GMT-Master II Everose Gold features a stunning colour palette of warm tones. I love the look of that Everose Gold case and matching bracelet, but the 126715CHNR is no slouch and packs some pretty serious haute horlogerie punch with respect to its brand new 3285 calibre.
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton
Clad entirely in rose gold and featuring an openworked dial, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton is a monstrous timepiece with all of the bells and whistles that you'd expect in a bona-fide haute horlogerie timepiece. Available in either steel or rose gold, I feel that the rose gold reference has a bit more to it and looks absolutely superb against the grey of that openworked dial. Get them while they're not hot.
Rolex Daytona 116500LN
The infamous Rolex Daytona has stormed to the top of many wish-lists and waiting-lists. And for good reason: it's a damn near perfect sports chronograph. Available with either a panda or black dial, with the black dial winning it for me, the Rolex Daytona 116500 is fundamentally all the watch you really need. Certainly Rolex's cream of the crop.
Breguet Classique Chronograph 5247BB
As inconspicuous as they come, the Breguet Classique Chronograph 5247BB is an enigmatic timepiece whose existence seems to be somewhat overlooked. It's a perfect combination of classicism, of detailing and of execution, packaged in a way that makes you want to know more about it. Oh, and it's also manually wound.
Rolex Daytona 116519LN
Last but certainly not least is the Rolex Daytona 116519LN. A beefed up version of the already very special Rolex Daytona 116500LN, the Rolex Daytona 116519LN does away with the stainless steel bracelet and case, instead opting for a black Oysterflex bracelet and a white gold case. But the main differentiating factor here is that black dial with diamond settings. Who doesn't like being extra?
