Watches of the Week: 15/02/2021 - 21/02/2021

Another week down, another instalment of our regular series where we focus on all of the newest watch releases, Watches of the Week. In this week's column we'll be featuring new watches from Grand Seiko, Oris and Longines. Enjoy!

Grand Seiko SLGH005

Drawing inspiration from the white birch trees which grow in the northern parts of Japan, the new Grand Seiko SLGH005 is a striking and endearing prospect from the maison from the East. The highly textured look of the Grand Seiko SLGH005 also draws some comparisons to the acclaimed and highly sought after 'Snowflake', but while the latter features a far more subtle dial pattern, the SLGH005's dial texture is bolder and more pronounced. The Grand Seiko SLGH005 is powered by maison's new hi-beat Calibre 9SA5 and will be priced at $13,600AUD.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel Titanium

New from Hermès is the titanium version of the beautiful Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel. Featuring a 39.50mm wide case, the Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel Titanium isn't actually all titanium, as the name implies. While the case and caseback are made in titanium, the Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel Titanium's bezel is made in either platinum or rose gold, while the crown and pusher is in white gold for the titanium/platinum model of in rose gold for the titanium/rose gold model. Both models feature a beautiful anthracite dial with a mother-of-pearl moonphase set against an aventurine glass sky. The Hermès Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel Titanium will be priced at $33,600USD.

Longines Silver Arrow

From Longines we have the Silver Arrow, a beautifully classical looking dress watch that is a clear nod to the nostalgic history of horology. The 2021 version is the modern iteration of the original version of the Silver Arrow released way back in 1956. A show of elegance, class and timelessness, the Longines Silver Arrow is a triumph in both design and execution. The Longines Silver Arrow will be available by the end of this month and will be priced at $3,050AUD.

Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar

Here is the Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar, the latest piece to the maison's classical Adamavi collection. Featuring a highly legible calendar-stylised dial, the Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar is available with either a black or silver dial strapped to either alligator leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar has a distinctive look that is consistent with many calendrier watches. I really like date indicator along with the day/month apertures, ensuring high levels of legibility. The Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar will be priced from €2,650.

Oris Aquis Whale Shark Limited Edition

Oris is back with another ocean-focused limited edition piece, this time in the form of the Aquis Whale Shark. This piece was made to support whale shark conservation efforts and to mark the relationship between the watchmaker and Gerardo del Villar, a photographer and conservationist who has worked with whale sharks for more than 15 years. It features a dial not that dissimilar to the look of the skin from a whale shark, along with an engraving of the giant on the closed steel case back. The Oris Aquis Whale Shark Limited Edition will be released in a limited run of only 2,016 pieces and will be priced at $3,200USD.
