Watches of the Week: 22/02/2022 - 27/02/2022

Welcome back to our regular series where we feature the latest watch releases and news, Watches of the Week. In this week's edition, we'll be featuring new watches from Urwerk, Breitling, Moritz Grossmann and Girard-Perregaux. Enjoy!

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0

Girard-Perregaux welcomes back the Casquette. Originally produced between 1976 and 1978, the Casquette was an interesting timepiece that fit well into the culture of watchmaking at the time. Fast forward to 2022, and Girard-Perregaux has given the Casquette a new lease of life, this time cladding it in ceramic and titanium all the while retaining its original look and feel. The Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 is priced at $7,000AUD and will be limited to only 820 pieces.

Urwerk UR-112 Aggregat Odyssey

New from Urwerk is the UR-112 Aggregat Odyssey. Encased in titanium and steel the Urwerk UR-112 Aggregat Odyssey is a prime example of breathing life into a collection staple. Urwerk continues to enthral and push the boundaries, all the while remaining relevant. Priced at 250,000CHF.

Breitling Top Time Triumph

Breitling has partnered up with the motorcycle brand Triumph to create its latest timepiece, the Top Time Triumph. Featuring an ice-blue "Zorro" stylised dial, an engraved closed caseback with the parallel twin engine from Triumph and all of the tell-tale signs of a motorbike-inspired watch, the new Breitling Top Time Triumph is priced at $7,590AUD.

Moritz Grossmann Universalzeit

Moritz Grossmann has unveiled its latest timepiece in the form of the Universalzeit. Featuring seven time zones you can instantly see on the world map, the Universalzeit is a novel timepiece that brings new meaning to the complication known as the "world timer". The Moritz Grossmann Universalzeit is priced at €42,000.

NOMOS Glashütte Tangente neomatik Platinum

NOMOS Glashütte has expanded the Tangente neomatik line with two new models. Here is the Tangente neomatik Platinum, in 35mm and 39mm. Bnoth models feature a dial plated with rhodium, which also extends to the needle-thin hands, which all contrast beautifully with the stainless steel case. The 35mm model is priced at $4,410AUD, while the 39mm costs $4,690AUD.

Franck Muller Long Island

Paying tribute to the art deco movement, the new Franck Muller Long Island

features relief numerals, dials made of mother-of-pearl, cases clad in diamonds and an indisputable beauty that is hard to look past. I quite like the feminine funky look of the Franck Muller Long Island, but it is one that is fairly polarising. Interesting and dividing.
