Creating a wristwatch that combines a minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, and tourbillon regulator is an exceptional technical feat, rarely achieved. The Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface integrates these complications with Vacheron Constantin’s latest technical advances and material innovations. Its Calibre 2757 S, featuring nearly 700 components, is exquisitely hand-finished and visible through a complex sapphire dial and case back within a 45mm pink gold case. This masterpiece transforms mechanical watchmaking into kinetic art. This watch reflects centuries of watchmaking heritage and expertise passed down through generations. Vacheron Constantin’s early innovations include pocket watches with deadbeat seconds and quarter repeaters in the 19th century, laying groundwork for modern chronographs. The split-seconds chronograph mechanism allows timing of intermediate events with two coaxial hands, a design Vacheron Constantin adopted early on. Similarly, the brand’s chiming watches trace back over 200 years, with minute repeaters striking hours, quarters, and minutes on demand. The tourbillon, designed to improve timekeeping by counteracting gravity’s effects, has been part of the Maison’s tradition since 1901, evolving to multi-axis designs in recent decades. The combination of these three highly complex complications—chronograph, minute repeater, and tourbillon—in a wristwatch remains rare. In 2022, Vacheron Constantin introduced Calibre 2757 to unite them in one mechanism. For this model, the calibre was enhanced with a spherical hairspring to boost precision and set in a unique open-worked dial showcasing its complexity. Calibre 2757 S, with 696 components, balances technical performance and elegance, measuring just 10.4 mm thick and 33.3 mm wide. The split-seconds chronograph is optimized for efficiency, using lightweight and advanced materials like titanium wheels, nickel-phosphorus electroformed parts, aluminum chronograph hands, and silicon levers to reduce friction and energy loss. This design supports a comfortable 50-hour power reserve with the chronograph running. The watch measures elapsed time with two central second hands and a 30-minute counter, controlled by two column wheels and pushers for precise operation. The minute repeater features an innovative silent flying strike governor with weights that use opposing centrifugal and centripetal forces to brake and regulate the chime’s speed, ensuring clear and balanced sound. The tourbillon, positioned at 6 o’clock, incorporates a spherical hairspring for enhanced isochronism and is housed in a Maltese cross–inspired cage performing one rotation per minute, with a small seconds hand on its axis. A striking feature is the ultra-thin, transparent sapphire dial just 0.5 mm thick, combining polished and frosted surfaces with 5N gold rings and grey NAC-treated hour markers. The chronograph hands are PVD-coated aluminum in olive green, matching the green alligator strap attached to the pink gold case. The sapphire dial and caseback reveal exceptional hand-finishing on movement components, including beveling, polishing, engraving, and bead blasting, creating dynamic light effects. The skeletonized bridges are meticulously hand-bevelled and finished, with contrasting black NAC coatings and polished edges. The reverse side displays sandblasted blackened bridges with mirror-polished jewel sinks and engraved strike governor honors, reflecting immense craftsmanship. This level of finishing took twice as long as assembling the movement, with one watchmaker responsible for all finishing, assembly, adjustment, and casing—an homage to 18th-century cabinotiers. The Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface is a testament to Vacheron Constantin’s dedication to preserving and advancing centuries-old watchmaking mastery.

Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe

  • Brand: Greubel Forsey

  • Model: GMT Balancier Convexe

  • Reference: -

  • Case: 44.90mm x 17.60mm

  • Case Material: Titanium

  • Water Resistance: 50m

  • Movement: GMT Balancier Convexe

  • Frequency: 3 Hz

  • Power Reserve: 70 hours

  • Price: CHF400,000 (Limited to 22 pieces)

The Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe is a highly sophisticated evolution of their GMT collection, limited to only 22 pieces, pushing the boundaries of haute horlogerie with its blend of cutting-edge engineering and artistic craftsmanship. The watch is housed in a 42.9mm Grade 5 titanium case that adopts a fully convex profile, differing markedly from the previous flat or subtly curved cases. This pronounced convexity not only enhances wrist ergonomics by better hugging the wearer’s arm, but also adds a striking three-dimensional visual depth, making the watch more sculptural and tactile. The choice of lightweight titanium balances comfort and durability while amplifying the futuristic aesthetic. At the heart of this piece lies Greubel Forsey’s signature 30° inclined balance wheel—an advanced technical hallmark designed to improve isochronism by mitigating positional errors in timekeeping. Unlike flat balance wheels, this inclined design promotes a more consistent rate, enhancing precision. Suspended beneath a meticulously black-polished steel balance bridge, the balance wheel is showcased like a jewel, with visual emphasis heightened by the surrounding dial architecture. The dial arrangement is a masterclass in multi-layered complexity. The centerpiece is the rotating globe—three-dimensional and hand-finished—that provides a live universal time display, rotating once every 24 hours, simulating the Earth’s rotation. Around the globe are multiple rings and discs indicating local time, a second time zone, and day/night cycles, each finished with exceptional detail and depth. This multi-timezone display allows travelers to easily reference several time zones at a glance, a practical complication packaged with exceptional legibility and artistic flair. A new 72-hour power reserve indicator has been integrated into the dial side for the first time in this model, elegantly balanced in design and function. This feature offers the wearer clear information about the remaining autonomy, which is crucial for a manually wound watch of such complexity. The movement itself is a manual-winding caliber consisting of 496 components, highlighting the complexity and dedication to detail inherent in every Greubel Forsey timepiece. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it ensures a reliable and stable power delivery for chronometric accuracy. The movement architecture is extensively finished by hand, featuring anglage, perlage, black polishing, and other haute horlogerie techniques, visible through the sapphire caseback. The watch’s water resistance is rated to 50 meters, suitable for daily wear while protecting its intricate mechanisms. To complement the titanium case, the GMT Balancier Convexe is offered with a choice of a hand-stitched rubber strap for a modern sporty look or an optional titanium bracelet that continues the lightweight, robust theme. Both options use a folding clasp designed for security and comfort. Priced at CHF 400,000, this timepiece is a pinnacle of contemporary watchmaking, combining Greubel Forsey’s patented technical breakthroughs with a dramatically reimagined case and dial design. It appeals to collectors seeking a fusion of engineering prowess, visual innovation, and exclusivity, cementing its place as a standout masterpiece in the world of ultra-luxury GMT watches.
