Another week has come and gone, and that means another round up of all the latest watch related news and releases in our regular series, Watches of the Week. In this week's edition, we'll be covering new watches from Ulysse Nardin, Urwerk, Laurent Ferrier and Jaeger-LeCoultre. Enjoy!



Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck

Ulysse Nardin is back, this time with its first astronomical complication of 2022 with the new Blast Moonstruck. This highly contemporary and intuitively designed timepiece is a direct descendent from the trilogy of astronomical timepieces created almost four decades ago by the master watchmaker, Ludwig Oechslin. The Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck features an abundance of astronomical complications, including the moon phases and days of the lunar month, a Sun position indicator, a world timer as well as a tidal chart. Limited to only 40 pieces and priced at 75,000CHF.

Urwerk UR-100V C52

Urwerk presented its latest model, the UR-100V C52. The directive of the Urwerk UR-100V C52 being lightness, performance and aesthetics, the Urwerk UR-100V C52 features a case made from 5 layers of ultra-thin carbon. The Urwerk UR-100V C52's aesthetic is made up of curves and angular geometry, emphasising the piece's super contemporary and avant-garde look. This is a piece that requires some outside-of-the-box thinking, but it's one that pays in dividends.


Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto

Perhaps Laurent Ferrier's true foray into the world of high-end sports horology, the maison's new Sport Auto is an embodiment of the brand's ethos of watchmaking. Featuring a titanium cushion-shaped case, a domed sapphire crystal covering the opaline-finished blue textured dial, the new Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto does away with convention and introduces a new era of watchmaking for the atelier. While the visceral focal point is of course the the Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto's aesthetic, it should be mentioned that the maison has created a brand new calendar movement the LF 270.01 calibre which in itself is absolutely exquisite. The Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto costs a hefty 46,000CHF.


Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel "Tiger"

New from Jaeger-LeCoultre is the Reverso Tribute Enamel "Tiger". Created to commemorate the Chinese New Year, as well as the opening of Jaeger-LeCoultre's new flagship boutique in Shanghai, the Reverso Tribute Enamel "Tiger" of course pays tribute to the Year of the Tiger. On the backside of the reversible dial is a depiction of a tiger, engraved into the pink gold case metal which seems to be pouncing from the background of the black opaque Grand Feu enamel dial.


Jaquet Droz's Chinese New Year Additions

Jaquet Droz has unveiled six wonderful new piece unique models, each dedicated to the Chinese New Year and the Tiger that represents it. The piece uniques symbolise the tiger in different portrayals, with each model presented in a unique manner. Elements of automaton, of precious metals, of positioning and of depiction differentiation for each model, where the overarching theme of the Tiger being apparent and evident throughout.
